Note that defense does NOT reduce the damage you take from attacks by monsters. Choose preferably light armors for the runewords since heavy ones will cost a LOT when you are repairing as well as slow your run/walk speed.The item level where it's found since this affects the number of max sockets it can have when you socket it via Larzuk or the Horadric cube recipe.So many had no actual no point.When looking for armor bases, you have to look for these things. I remember one dungeon in particular took me several hours to actually navigate due to it’s sheer size. Dungeons were way to big, especially on Hell difficulty.Death also would take away your entire experience bar, thus rendering your time actually wasted. If you played the game 24/7 you could do it in a few days. Leveling past 90 the levels could take a literal real life week to accomplish.
Leveling past 70 was a chore and a literal full time job. Even coming into the mid and late 2000’s not adding a respec option was actually a poor move, forcing you to actually start over if you made a bad build. No respec for majority of it’s lifespan hurt the game badly.Outside of the cow level and full rejuvenation potions crafting was worthless Crafting had few uses and crafting weapons yielded no results as the weapons were always going to be beyond bad. Many game mechanics were actually useless.There was also a motto that was shocking true which was “The rich got richer, the poor got poorer.” Great gear that could take you through Hell difficulty was literally viewed as actual garbage by the rich. There was a time in it’s life span where if you had perfect gems you were rich and could get anything and then one patch later you were poor as Perfect Gems lost tons of value as runewords came out. We talk economy a lot, this was due to D2’s being actually busted.
